- This Chenin Blanc opens with aromatic white flowers intermingled with vivid citrus and tropical papaya. Dry and medium bodied on the palate, this wine has great texture and is typically bright and juicy with notes of gooseberries, lemon and zesty grapefruit We pair this wine with fresh BC oysters and our Humboldt Squid salad at Old Vines Restaurant.
- The 2013 growing year at Quails’ Gate Estate vineyards was remarkably warm throughout which has translated into fruit forward wines with surprising length and structure. This year’s blend of 91% Chenin Blanc and 9% Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from both Quails’ Gate Estate and Osoyoos vineyards. The grapes were whole bunch pressed followed by cold fermentation, 85% in stainless steel tanks and 15% in 2 year old French oak barrels. The barrel portion of the blend provides a lush quality to the palate alongside complex aromas. To truly appreciate the development and complexity of the character of this wine cellaring of 5-7 years can be undertaken.
- “A chenin blanc (with 9% sauvignon blanc), made in a clean and open style, lightly oxidative, with tight structure, high flavour intensity and good length. A well crafted wine all around.” 88pts - John Szabo, WineAlign Tasted June 2014. “Lots of lemon, pear, honeydew melon, pineapple and honey on the nose. The palate has intense grapefruit, mandarin zest, spice, crunchy green apple and flinty minerality, all with mouthwatering acidity and a very long, pithy and crisp finish. Quite complex and powerful.” 90pts Rhys Pender (MW) Tasted Aug 2014
